My blog is from scripture, a few of my favorite verses, and our new life on the farm, raising Scottish Highland cows. Both the Renewing of myself and our 1901 farmstead are topics close to my heart, and I hope you will be blessed in reading this.
We lost my father-in-law in 2020 and that brought us here. To the farm he grew up on. The farm that his parents, my husband's Grandparents bought in 1951. God was calling me to pick up my cross, move 300+ miles North and care for his widow, my husband’s mom.
The farm was a mess, and somewhere I never saw myself ever living.
Built in 1901 on a beautiful, peaceful, rolling 15 acre parcel, just on the edge of a sleepy little town in NW Missouri. The property is beautiful just more than I wanted to take on at our age.
While it does have some beautiful woodwork, in the amazing Craftsman colonnades, 10” baseboards and original hardwood floors, Most of the rest of the house was a drafty, crooked, crumbling mess of plaster, knob and tube wiring and several additions that made no sense to me, being an Architectural Drafter by trade.
Oh and dare I forget the numerous signs of critters sharing the house. More of a cross than I felt I wanted to carry
We are slowly getting the house back to its glory and more my style…..hope you enjoy the before and after pictures and video.
