I have a story to tell about a beautiful family who came to visit the farm today! The dad is building a back deck for our new office space (see first blog titled 1901 Farmhouse) and mom said the girls wanted to see daddy!

As all little ones are, the girls wanted to explore everything. Mom spied our 2 Scottish Highland cows relaxing under the big elm tree, and said hey girls look who I see!

The little sister squealed “it’s Hairy mama, let’s feed it fig cookies” Now you see the cows names are actually Clara and Belle (named after the famous Disney cow Clarabelle) but the younger of the little girls loves a book we bought for her big sister’s 4th birthday, titled “Hairy” the Highlander https://a.co/d/ekowFai

We gave her a stuff Highland cow and this book, and the girls must love it because they were so excited to feed “Hairy” AKA Clara.

My heart was touched and I was blessed beyond all measures when the older sister asked me to lift her up to see “Hairy” closer. You see, this sweet little blessing has a rare heart disease. She lives with CCHS and also has Hirschsprung's Disease (HD) , epilepsy and Markus Gunn Syndrome. She sleeps with a ventilator at night attached to her trach and as mom says, never lets anyone hold her.

After the girls fed the cows their favorite treats, fig newton cookies, they came into my new office to meet all my stuffed Highlands. They enjoyed counting how many there were and organizing from biggest to littlest.

While little sister scooped up as many stuffies as her little arms could hold big sister started investigating the rest of our house. She found my leather bound bible laying on the coffee table and to my surprise (moms too) she opened to cover page and out loud and quite clear said “bible”…..now this may sound like no big deal but she is only 4 and speaks through her trach.

We are blessed to call this beautiful family friends and love watching big sister bloom and grow

1 Corinthians 7:17-24: Paul encourages believers to live as they are called by God, and to discover their unique gifts and callings. The phrase “bloom where you are planted” is a proverbial saying that means to make the most of your opportunities and be grateful for your current situation. It can also mean to learn and grow from the situation, make it better, or leave it better than when you found it.
